Wine, Fine Food and Formula1
£249.00
The German Ahr valley is a very special region south of the chic cities of Düsseldorf and Cologne. This discerning destination offers top gastronomy and great red wines from the Pinot Noir grape (Spätburgunder) in a rural romantic setting.
Walkers and cyclists can explore the region’s wines and hospitality via two well-marked routes: the red wine trail (Rotweinwanderweg), a trail that winds its way through the vineyards from the Rhine towards the Eifel Hills and the Ahr cycle trail (Ahr-Radweg), a circular bicycle path through the Ahr valley.
Delicious food, great wine and a warm welcome are all to be found in the many villages along the way. But for a faster experience, just a car trip away is the world famous Nürburgring, the most scenic Formula1 race track in the world. When it is not race day, people come here from all over Germany to try the track out for themselves.
Your quality accommodation is at a family-run wine estate in the heart of the Ahr valley especially selected for its high standards and outstanding hospitality. The wine theme runs through all rooms, with each individually designed and furnished. Here you will also be able to taste the Spätburgunder Ahr wine which can be luscious velvety or fiery and full-bodied. The quality is high, but the yield small, so very few wine labels ever make it beyond the valley – all the more reason to visit and try them for yourself.
Within walking distance of your accommodation, your choice of restaurants range from traditional wholesome fare to exquisite award-winning cuisine. Germany’s new generation of young creative chefs include Carsten Dohrs, a regular in the German ‘Ready Steady Cook’ who entertains his clients in a stylish environment at his own cookery school in nearby Remagen.
A must-see for those interested in history Remagen also hosts the Peace Museum.
